Hey Michael, is it possible for (at a minimum) the creator of groups to be notified when new posts are made or pics added to the group? Possibly those interested could flip a switch to say that they do or do not want to be notified of new posts or new pictures. We're getting a bunch of groups now and I'm flipping and flopping between groups trying to figure out if someone has posted and if I've seen it and then trying to hop to the others to see if I want to post...blah blah blah...you get where I'm going with this. Thanks!!! xox Minx

Email notification for group activity

I'll have to look into that, but will probably require writing a whole custom program to deal with subscriptions, and what thresholds would have to be met to get notified. In the main gallery, that could be a few hundred individual emails a day (which is why I turned off those notifications in the photo gallery for myself). I can see it totally getting out of hand with you coming back from vacation (or just the weekend) and having hundreds of notifications in your mail box....is that something you really want to have?
I think a better way would be some notification area on the site itself that tells you new content has arrived since you last visited. That would probably be more doable and not have all the hassle of getting email blasted every day.
Let me think about how I would go about doing it but regardless will be more than a quick implementaiton either way...
ANYONE ELSE HAVE COMMENTS ON THIS? (YOU TOO OF COURSE MINX)
Your way sounds fine to me. If these groups are something that you want to encourage, we'll need something because going in to each one each morning to see "are there new pics?" or "did someone actually have something to say?" (even just in my groups) is annoying much less trying to check all the other ones I'm in...and of course each day...nothing. It seems like there are about 5 or so of us who are actually trying to build community with these groups and lots of peeping Toms. Something has got to give there.
