Just curious what the membership considers a MEANINGFULL comment on a posting.  Opinions vary.  What would be YOUR opinion?

Meaningful would be  "helpful or enlightening" to me. Of course what is meaningful to some may not be to others. What I would like to know is how you come about all of the photos you post. I am intrigued by the shear numbers of photos, and the really hot ones that could only be taken by a pretty accomplished photographer. I really like photos that cause me to wonder a bit about the subject, letting my imagination enter in. The in-your-face stuff is a bit of a turn off to me but then what is one man's pleasure is another man pain. Anyway, you have posted a lot of great shots and I look forward to more.

Thanks, Gertie1,  I'm glad you like the ones I post.  I enjoy posting the ones I run across on Blogs and the internet in general, but I am not the biggest poster.  SMITTY and MILKMAN have posted thousands more than I.  In fact, I submit many more than the website will accept.  A lot of them are duplicates, or course, of ones already on the site and/or copyrighted but not marked.  But I appreciate their accepting the others.

I asked the question of  about "meaningful" comments because we are awarded points for our comments on them only if the comments are judged to be "meaningful."  I think that would be hard for someone to judge.

I have to agree with you.  It would be hard for someone to judge what is meaningful.  Art is in the eye of the beholder.  I know that is off topic somewhat but the same thing is true.

Thanks for sharing your opinion.  If you read comments over the years, they show a huge variety of needs met for different people viewing the gallery.   Some people enjoy talking to the person in the photograph,  some enjoy criticizing the poster himself, some react to what other's have said before them.  The list is endless.   As to what is "meaningful" or not, it they fullfill a purpose and need for the site member, they should be rewarded.    rob
